Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) welcomes Alumni, Andrea Villarreal, to its Alumni Art Showcase.  The event is sponsored by the NLC Student Art Club and will be on display through March 13. Andrea earned her associate of art from NLC before transferring to UTSA to earn a bachelor degree in Art with a minor in Art History.  This exhibit is Villarreal’s first solo exhibit. She is grateful for NLC for giving her the opportunity to grow and continue to learn. In 2013, Andrea received the President’s Art Show Award and received $300 for her piece during the college’s annual Juried Art Show. Her artwork is a permanent collection of the college and hangs in the President’s Office Suite.

“The art professors at NLC did an amazing job preparing me for my future goals.  Their lessons taught me how to skillfully examine, write about, and discuss a collection of fine art,” says Andrea Villarreal, NLC alumni.  She encourages students to get involved and engaged outside of the classroom to make the most of their college experience. “Participate in clubs and organizations,” she says “so you can discover more about who you are.”

Now an independent artist, she hopes to create artworks with an intended purpose and inspire others through the artistic voice. Her ultimate goal is to teach art to children and adults and to use their creative abilities to help achieve all they wish to gain in life.
